Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it worth paying for this instead of looking up tips online?
The internet has lots of information, but it’s often scattered, contradictory, or outdated. The PAWS Approach gives you one organised, literature-based plan. You also get access to a supportive feedback, which you won’t find on random websites. In short, you save time (no more guessing what advice to trust) and gain confidence knowing you’re following proven methods.
Are your methods really researched-based and humane?
Yes! We follow the latest research on animal behaviour. Our approach is 100% positive and fear-free – we never use punishment or harsh techniques. We believe in “prevention rather than correction,” meaning we teach you how to set up your home and routines so problems don’t start. You can trust that our advice is both ethical and effective.
What if I have a medical concern about my cat?
Please remember: advice from The PAWS Approach is not a substitute for veterinary care. If your cat shows signs of illness (vomiting, lethargy, sudden behaviour changes, etc.), please contact your vet first. Our programs focus on behavioural issues. We always recommend a vet check-up.
Who is the Behaviour Consultation for, and when should I consider it?
Consultations are ideal if your cat’s issues are severe or if you’ve tried everything on your own without success. For example: anxiety or multi-cat problems. During the consult, you’ll get 1:1 coaching and a custom plan from our founder. It’s also a good option if you prefer live interaction or need extra reassurance.
Note that consults are a premium service, so they come at a higher fee. But if you book one, you get dedicated expert time to assist in unraveling your cat’s unique circumstances.
What if you are not based in the Canberra or Queanbeyan Region?
No problem at all. Consultations are available virtually via video call, so you can be anywhere in Australia. In my studdies I’ve worked with clients in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, distance doesn’t always get in the way of a good behaviour plan. We will still get the full picture of your cat’s world, through the screen and supporting videos.
