Meet Leigh

Leigh has spent a lifetime learning to read animals. Growing up surrounded by dogs and horses on regional NSW hobby farms, she developed an intuition for animal behaviour long before it became her profession. Cats, though, became her particular passion and eventually, her calling.

She is furthering her studies with a Diploma in Cat Behaviour (DipCABT-C, C.C.A.B.), and has spent time volunteering in animal shelters and rescues, working hands-on with cats of all temperaments and histories. That experience gave her something no textbook can, the ability to read a cat who isn't yet sure they trust you.

At home, she shares her life with two cats of her own, Kai and Apollo (pictured on this page), which means the learning never really stops.

Leigh also brings a background in education (MTeach), which shapes how she works with people just as much as how she works with cats. She knows that the best information in the world isn't useful if it doesn't actually land for the person receiving it. So whether she's consulting one-on-one or woking within the membership, she meets you where you are.

The PAWS Approach exists because Leigh believes that understanding your cat shouldn't feel overwhelming. It should feel like a conversation, one where somebody finally speaks both languages fluently.

Our Values

We are guided by core values of empathy, respect, and excellence.

This means:

  • Empathy: We understand the frustration and love you feel for your cat, and we meet you where you are (no judgment ever).

  • Respect: Every cat and family is different. We use humane, fear-free methods – never punishment – to keep your cat’s welfare front and centre.

  • Excellence: We continually update our knowledge. Our advice is evidence-based and up-to-date, so you’re always getting the best of current research.

In everything we do, we focus on education, not just quick fixes. We want you to feel confident and empowered, not anxious or guilty. Our goal is to be your trusted partner on this journey.

Our Mission

At The PAWS Approach, every cat deserves a happy home.

We were founded by a lifelong animal lover and educator who saw first-hand how heartbreaking and confusing behaviour issues can be for guardians.

Our mission is to empower cat parents through education. We deliver research- backed advice with empathy and clarity, because informed, supported people make better pet parents.
